Philippines South Province, 11 June 2024 -- The Salesians of this province welcomed with great joy the ordination of three new Salesian priests. Fathers Antonio Velarde, SDB, and Genson Banguis, SDB, were ordained by Bishop Patricio Buzon, SDB DD, of the Diocese of Bacolod in the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes at 3:00 PM in the afternoon of 24 May. As a gift to the mission in Pakistan, Fr. Barnad Alfred, SDB, was also ordained by Bishop Khalid Rehmat, DD, of the Apostolic Vicariate of Quetta at Don Bosco Chapel in Quetta, Pakistan at 4:30 PM (Pakistan time).
Both events were attended by Salesian priests and brothers, the families of the ordained, and the members of the Salesian Family.
The gift of new priests is a testament of the love of God for young people and a confirmation of the relevance of the Salesian mission.
