6445_Vietnam Province: Opening The Provincial Chapter 2024

K'Long, Lâm Đồng, Vietnam - 8 June 2024 -- On the morning of 6 June 2024, the Salesian Province of Don Bosco Vietnam opened the Provincial Chapter 2024 (PC 2024) with the theme: “Passionate about Jesus Christ, dedicated to young people”. This is the main topic that the 29th General Chapter of the Congregation proposed for Salesian Provinces around the world to research and learn.

Attending the opening day of PC 2024 were 67 members, including the Provincial Fr Barnabas Le An Phong, Salesians, Representatives of members of the Salesian Family: There was the Provincial Sister of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the President of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Association, the Leaders of the Don Bosco Volunteers, and the Salesian Cooperators.

Before the opening ceremony, at 5:30 a.m., members sanctified the first day by listening to the sermon by Fr Joseph Do Duc Dung, Councillor for formation, and silently praying to ask for God's grace enlighten each member and for the days of PC to proceed according to God's will.

Right at 8:00, the members gathered in the hall to open the PC. Father Barnabas, on behalf of the members, had a few words to welcome PC participants and guests.

Father Francis Xavier Pham Dinh Phuoc, Moderator of the Chapter, invited representatives of the Salesian Family to speak. The representatives sent their thanks to the Salesians for their connecting and supporting role in the Salesian family for the benefit of young people. Furthermore, everyone wishes PC 2024 to go well.

At 09:00, The Provincial named the members of TNT 2024, and then the Conference elected two secretaries for PC 2024: Father Gioseph Nguyen Ngoc Vinh and Father Joseph Nguyen Xuan Quang. After the initial procedures were completed, the Provincial announced the opening of PC 2024.

The Moderator presented the work program as set out in the PC 2024 working document and gave specific instructions on how to work in groups and speak in plenary meetings.

At 10:30, Bishop Dominic Nguyen Van Manh, Bishop of Da Lat Diocese, presided over the opening Mass of PC 2024. The Bishop prayed for God's blessing and sanctification for PC 2024 of the Salesian Don Bosco Province. At 11:30, the Bishop and the members had lunch and ended the opening session.
