Macau Instituto Salesiano Macau SAR, China, 7 November 2022 -- Only 28 months after the commencement ceremony of the Macau Instituto Salesiano extension construction project, you can admire the completed stage one on the 6 minute video clip they have produced. In spite of the busy construction work, school business has continued on a day-by-day basis and the students will soon move to the new wings just recently completed. The second stage of reconstruction will be completed in another two years time. The Instituto Salesiano comprises both a Primary and Secondary school.
The Instituto Salesiano is the first Don Bosco school in the EAO (East Asia-Oceania) region, started in 1906 by (Saint and Martyr) Louis Versiglia, the leader of the first missionary expedition to China. During the past 116 years already many generations of this first school's past pupils have became salt and light in local society and beyond Macau. Also during this not-so-easy transition period of reconstruction the Past Pupils of the Instituto have remained close to their Alma Mater in many ways, as witnessed by the recent school visit and awarding event (cf. the Alumni website, Alumni newsletter no. 204 and Alumni Facebook page).
We pray that in the next two years reconstruction period the integral Salesian education of young 'Bosconians', the new generations, will grow as upright citizens and good believers. School leadership under Mr. Leong, Su Weng (alumnus of the school and 22nd principal who took office in 2021) is supported by the Salesian community and accompanied by the large EPC (Educative and Pastoral community) comprising a good number of past pupils.
