Vunabosco, PNG, 05 September 2022 -- The Educational and Pastoral Community of Don Bosco Technical Secondary School (DBTSS) Kokopo concluded “Don Bosco’s Month” with a meaningful program titled: “The Recitation Contest of The Dream at Nine”. The program signified the conclusion of various activities done in the DBTSS as a school community, the Don Bosco Boarding House, and the Mary Help of Christians Parish of the Archdiocese of Rabaul. A good number of the Boarding House boys participated in this contest while others supported their friends in the recitation of: Don Bosco’s dream at 9. The judges for this contest were Mr. Renato teacher and Salesian Cooperator and Dn. Bernard Kaiau, sdb.
At the ‘Good Night Talk’, Fr. Moise Palaku sdb, Rector of the community, elaborated the significance of Don Bosco’s dream at the age of 9, and his mission for the young. “It is always wonderful to go back to our origins, to go back to Don Bosco himself”, said Fr Moise. He then concluded his talk by inviting the boys to reflect on their presence in the dream, and that everyone is challenged to become a sheep and a shepherd to other young people.
The program was also a celebration of the birthday of Fr. Valeriano Barbero sdb, pioneer of Papua New Guinea, who is presently in Italy due to the condition of his health.
