Hua Hin, Thailand, October 28, 2015 - One year ago during the pastoral visit of Archbishop Savio Hon Tai Fai in Hua Hin, Salesian parish of St. Theresa of Lisieux were baptized 10 young people. Among them was also Tangmo Dechachat, baptized with the name of St. John Bosco. He participated also in the SYM world meeting in Italy, Turin and Colle Don Bosco.

    Dear friends,

I became a disciple of Jesus because of Moses. He teaches me by Walt Disney animation movie “The Prince of Egypt”. He was the first prophet whom I saw and then, I asked Fr. Theparat, Director of Hua Hin Vithayalai school, to study about Christianity. He taught me some basic things that Catholic believer should know, I began to understand about the Trinity, the Love of Jesus and The Passion of the Christ. However, it was ‘The prince of Egypt’ who brought me to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. So I would like to explain about my personal history and about my feelings:

The first time I saw this movie. I was Buddhist. I didn’t understand anything about the Prince of Egypt, but I felt something from this movie that I had never felt before. This movie made me want to learn about God. Before I asked the school Director, I started to learn about Christianity from the Internet. So this movie brought me to know God and my baptism into the Catholic Church.

I see that Moses respects the Lord very much . He had courage to serve the Lord and keep the Lord beside him. “In the mountain of God. There an angel of the Lord appeared to him in fire flaming out of a bush. As he looked on, he was surprised to see that the bush, though on fire , was not consumed . So Moses decides “ I must go over to look at this remarkable sight ,and see why the bush is not burned. When the Lord saw him coming over to look at it more closely, God called “Moses, Moses!”(Exodus 3:1-4).

This shows that the Lord is great. I learnt from this movie that the Lord is beside his people at all times. Although he gave the big mission to Moses but he didn’t run away or left Moses alone. He was beside Moses all the time. This shows that the Lord has never left anyone. He gives valuable lessons to us about life.

When I saw the Red Sea split in two, so that Hebrews could pass, I believed that the Lord can do anything for his sons. I feel so happy that I am Catholic believer, disciple of Jesus and I want to explain: “ It is amazing that I can love Jesus not because of the direct call from him, but from Moses. I feel really good, every time when I reflect back to my baptism, my confirmation when the Holy Spirit is with me, and the Holy Communion that I receive (Jesus the Son of God became my flesh.) I feel at home in the Church of God, in other words I am a member of God’s kingdom. I can’t explain all of my feeling, but one thing that I can say is “God is great, and I love him very much.” Thanks God for calling me to become your Son!”

Thanks for asking me about the motivations of my baptism last November 2014. See you! Dominus Vobiscum! :)

John Bosco, 4th year student of Salesian Secondary School in Hua Hin
