Sumba, Indonesia, 03 May 2022 -- On April 26, Fr. Joseph Phuoc, the EAO Regional, arrived in Sumba Island on the occasion of his first Periodic Visit to the Vice-Province of Indonesia (INA). He was accompanied by Fr. Lino, the INA Vice-Provincial.
Having arrived in the morning, they were picked up at the airport and brought to the St. John Bosco Community in Sumba. They were welcomed with a traditional Sumbanese welcome dance, a welcome song and a welcome speech.
The SDB Community in Sumba is a community with a variety of apostolic works such as a Technical High School, a TVET, a boarding house, and a Formation house for the aspirants and prenovices. Currently there are 7 Salesians, 2 aspirants and 3 prenovices. There are around 130 high School students, 40 TVET students and 41 student-boarders.
Father Regional visited all the works and gave encouragement to the Salesians working there. He gave some Good Morning Talks and Good Evening Talks. He also gave conferences to those in formation and to the Salesian Confreres.
He also visited the new building of the Technical High School which is scheduled to be finished in the middle of July 2022.
