Youth Retreat for Graduating students

By Regina Wayi

INS4 - Bachelor in Instrumentation Technology

Boroko, PNG, 19 October 2020 -- 49 graduating Don Bosco Technological Institute students in Instrumentation Technology (INS), Machine Fitting and Machinists (MFM), Machine Fabrication and Welding (MFW) and Automotive Technology (AUT) participated in the Spiritual Retreat. It was held at the Emmaus Conference Centre, Boroko on the 16th and 17thOctober. The theme of the Retreat was: Protect Creation, Respect Life.

"The Youth Retreat is a special overnight event that gives the graduating students an opportunity to reflect upon their lives. It enables them to commit themselves to resolutions that will have a positive influence on their lives. The spiritual retreat is designed to prepare the graduands spiritually, mentally, socially and physically in order to face the next chapter of life”, said Regina Wayi.

She continues, “One of the cool things about the Youth Retreat is that you have time for yourself apart from your normal obligations such as classes and workshop tasks. One has special personal time to make amendments and dwell on things that need reformation. It is also a great avenue to spend quality time and reconnect with God.

The greatest thing about the Youth Retreat is that it builds up the self-esteem of students, instils and inspires them to do and be better at what they are doing and compels individuals to resolve and reconcile their lives to God.

The motivational sessions facilitated by Fr. Ambrose, Mr. Jojo, Mr Terrance and Fr. Alex were educational, interactive and reflective. I had time to enjoy the company of my classmates, instructors and friends from the other technologies (MFM, AUT, MFW). However, the highlight of the retreat that has had a deep impact on my life has been the joy of renewing my commitment to purity before God.

I have no doubt that this year's Youth Retreat will be remembered and always be an experience that I can look back on so that I may gain strength and not stray away."

Renewed, relaxed and refreshed the participants are ready for their year-end assignments and will make the proper choices in their life.
