By Sr. Kim Young Hee FMA

Seoul, Korea, 23 April 2020 -- Last March, the reception room at the entrance of large complex of FMA provincial house in Shin gil-dong, Seoul - Korea, which had not been used for a while, was allowed by the FMA superiors as a place of activity for VIDES. In order to make use of this space, we discussed head to head with the VIDES leadership team.

There was a lively discernment brainstorming: Let's try a free youth restaurant! or Use it as a cultural space for young people!.... Finally, we decided to set it as a meeting space for young people and local residents by using simple study rooms (after-school, tutoring) and open space where children and teenagers can come and go at any time. First of all, the name "Dallak - nallak" 들락날락 (translated: Come and Go) was selected to reveal the purpose of space utilization by inspiring from the name.

Then we started our manual work: There was a lot of space that wasn't used and had to be cleaned, but we decided to start. Massive cleaning work, wall breaking work, cement painting work, wallpaper painting, painting the floor work ... We decided to work with our own hands without the help of experts. Those who give, the completion of the efforts and dedication of the members of the VIDES Seoul branch has been completed.

Welcome to Seoul VIDES base camp at Shin-Gil-Dong: Come and Go!

VIDES (Volontariato Internazionale Donna Educazione Sviluppo: FMA International Volunteer Movement) was launched in 1983 and is active in 45 countries (https://www.vides.org).
