Seminar for Rectors, Provincial Councillors, as Extraordinary Visitation gets underway in KOR
SEOUL 26 August 2012 --  From 22 to 24 August Fr Stephen Nam, KOR Provincial, ran a seminar for Rectors and Provincial Councillors. He has done this annually, addressing various topics each time and including a study of the Rectors Handbook. Altogether the group made up 18 including Fr Andrew Wong, Regional Councillor for EAO, who arrived at the Provincial House in Seoul on 20 August to begin the Extraordinary Visitation.  The seminar began with a half-day retreat which was led by Fr Wong who gave the opening conference. He spoke of our belief that the Preventive System is our way of evangelising, and so the medium (in this case the method) becomes the message. The medium and message are love of Christ and only a Christian can fully apply the Preventive System to good result.

The second day of the seminar dealt with the rethinking of Youth Ministry. Fr Marcello Baek, Provincial YM Delegate, offered three topics to occupy the day's discussions: encountering the world and culture of youth; evangelising by educating in the culture of our time; an all-round, coordinated youth ministry.  After the presentation of each topic participants were able to share in-depth from their own wealth of experience as pastors of the young, discussing the challenges and possibilities for YM today.

Fr Nam organised this part of the seminar as a follow-up to the Annual Regional meeting of YM Delegates for EAO in Jakarta in March 2012. Those who took part in the seminar decided to continue the process of rethinking at the local community level. The YM Commission will accompany the rethinking process in all communities.

Then on 24 August, Fr Michael Chang, provincial economer, spoke on the topic of evangelical poverty. After his presentation those present took up some of the focal points for evangelical poverty. This discussion brought the seminar to its conclusion and Fr Wong then met with the Provincial Council to discuss the preparatory document for the extraordinary visitation prepared by the Provincial and his council.
