As the 18th December draws near....

MELBOURNE, HONG KONG: 4th December 2009 --  The 5th December will be a timely reminder - the celebration of Blessed Philip Rinaldi, of the major and long-awaited event for this year in terms of the Salesian 150th celebration: 18th December and the renewal of profession on the part of all Salesians.
You will be happy to know that gleanings 2 and gleanings 3 are now available, along with 'gleanings 1' which has been in place for several weeks.  No 2 is blue and No. 3 is green, unless you are colour blind (in which case just go by order!!). These 'gleanings',  'Twitter-like' reflections on the Constitutions, come at a timely moment and have already spread far and wide; they can be found on websites now in various continents.  Once again, if you actually want a zipped version of the 3 'gleanings' to include in a web site, just ask and you will have it by return mail.  Some readers have already worked out how to get hold of the script and its contents by other simple, technical means. Good for them!
Meanwhile, Salesians in HK and Macau, if one is to believe Fides who have renamed the Rector Major as 'Inspector General', have been celebrating the 150th in a big way. One could be forgiven, from the article concerned, in thinking that we have had an enormous vocation surge in that part of the world, but that can be taken as a good omen!  If you wish to read the more subdued and ultimately more correct version written by our own people from Hong Kong, and published by us on 19th November, just go here.
