Wisma Don Bosco Jakarta attacked by 'rascals'

JAKARTA: 6th November 2009 -- At around 3 pm on the afternoon of 2nd November, a group of 'Preman' (rascals) came to Wisma Don Bosco in Jakarta, demanding money.  They were not able to have what they demanded so they reacted violently and beat Fr Budi, the Provincial Economer.  He was rushed to hospital by some Salesian Cooperators and friends, but later released.

God bless Germany!

MUNICH: 6th November 2009 -- Worldwide interest in SDL is gathering pace. Recently the Institut Spiritualität Salesianische in Benediktbeuern contacted us to say that we had permission to place all of their material in SDL.
The process has begun.  And while many EAO readers would not be especially interested in German texts (the German collection now begins to rival the Italian, Spanish and English ones in size and variety) there are some items of considerable interest.  German 'lieder' (songs) on Don Bosco may offer melodies to put English words to.  Of particular interest might be the 'Via Lucis' collections put together by Blum and Raduly, two German artists working within a Salesian theme.
German artists have obviously attracted the Rector Major, as people will note once the 2010 Strenna video is complete and made available to the public.  In the case of the two mentioned above, Michael Blum and Margit Raduly, if you go to this link within 'titles' in the German collection you will have access to some imaginative artwork that may offer ideas in good time for Lent 2010 - nothing like getting in early!
