Bosco Youth Camp II in Indonesia: The future is here!

JAKARTA: 26th September 2009 -- A group of 110 young people from the Parish of St. John Bosco, Jakarta, headed out on the night of the 19th of September for the Second  Bosco Youth Camp in Puntang, South Bandung, Indonesia. The Bosconian Catholic Youth Group of the Parish organized the four-day opportunity (19-22 Sept 2009) with the assistance of Fr. Agung Heribertus and 5 Brothers from the nearby Postnovitiate.
During the camp, with its theme "The Future is Here"  campers (ranging from 13-25 years of age) learned a lot about leadership, group dynamics, team-work, community building, along with the religious values inherent in Salesian youth spirituality (joy, working together, ecclesial spirit,  etc). Fun, bonfire and games were not absent, and the huge group had an unforgettable hike along Bandung's beautiful mountainside to an exotic waterfall which they do not ordinarily see in their beloved city of Jakarta. But most of all, the four days spent together taught the young people that it is possible to live together in communion with other young people notwithstanding differences in age, gender, level of education and culture.
As when Don Bosco used to bring his boys on their outings, the people of the area were suprised to see how joyful young people from a Salesian parish were. The group went back to Jakarta more determined to realize their common vision (We are the Bosconian Youth, walking together to the future) and mission (Duc in Altum! With fortitude we take every opportunity to deepen our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, so that we may grow as devoted citizens and develop as honest and responsible members of the Church).
