FIS has a new Provincial
ROME: 7th July 2009 -- Although the announcement is already some days old, given the fact that the General Council have only just returned from their Retreat 'in the footsteps of St Paul', and that Philippines South members have had a chance to digest the news of the new appointment, we are happy to announce that Fr George Militante is the new Provincial for the Southern Philippines Province (FIS).
Fr Militante is a native of Calamba, Misamis Occidental in Mindanao. He made his first profession as a Salesian at Canlubang in 1971 and was ordained priest at Parañaque in 1978. He spent a number of years as Provincial Economer, a task he only recently relinquished in fact. Alas, his 'escape' from the Provincial House has been short-lived!
Always the practical person, Fr Militante is also known and appreciated for his warmth and generosity.
The ceremony of installation as Provincial will take place in ten days time - on the Feast of Our lady of Carmel.
