Bishop Prathan preaches Salesian Cooperators retreat, Thailand
HUA HIN: 21st July 2008 -- A hundred Salesian Cooperators from all local centres (11 in all) arrived at the Salesian Retreat House, Hua Hin during the afternoon of Thursday 17 July 2008. They came with their Local Delegates, both SDB and FMA. This year almost all Local Delegates were present, except for one who is ill and another away preaching in the U.S.A. The Province Delegate, Fr Suphot Riungam, presided at the opening liturgical service in the evening and spoke of his impressions of Family Spirit and Communion amongst Salesian Cooperators. After supper, each local coordinator presented the members of their Centre.
On Friday 18 July 2008 the day began with the Eucharistic celebration by Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil. The bishop preached on the life of St. Paul over 3 sessions and prepared his talks as a form of Lectio Divina. He gave his final talk the following morning. The remainder of the 18th was taken up with other liturgies including a Reconciliation service, some time for relaxation (though it was raining!), and Adoration towards evening.
Saturday 19 July featured the elections. The Provincial Coordinator, Mr. Pornsawat Lertvittayavivat had completed a 6 year term and the Provincial Councillors their 3 year term. The newly elected Provincial Coordinator is Mr. Wichai Srisura. Mr. Wichai was Provincial Coordinator and World Councillor for the East Asia Region many years ago. The Administrator is Ms. Vilai Banchoedkhunakorn and Mr. Pornsawat Lertvittayavivat accepted further responsibility as the one responsible for Formation.
The retreat concluded with the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Bishop Joseph Prathan. Fr. John Bosco Thepharat Pitisant, the Provincial of the THA Province, and the four other priests who were present. During the Mass, nine new members made their promise.
