"Now I wish to stay with you as a friend and brother forever": THA-Cambodia gains a new missionary
PHNOM PENH: 4th February 2008 -- Don Bosco Phnom Penh solemnised the feast of the founder and father, Don Bosco with a real family feast. About 700 members gathered for the final event after having made the novena days, recalling and reaffirming the life and mission of Don Bosco for the young, and with the young. The Eucharist of 31 January 2008 was presided over by the first newly arrived Korean missionary, Fr. Gabriel Kang. To focus on the theme that “Don Bosco is a family of nations”, he shared in a visual presentation (ppt) the life and mission of the SDB’s in Korea as it grew steadily in quantity and quality. He drew applause from his listeners when he said, “Now I wish to stay with you as a friend and brother forever”.
Don Bosco Phnom Penh has five confreres from five countries speaking five different languages yet contributing as one to the formation of young Cambodians, working in cooperation with all religious affiliations and in solidarity with all people marked by a sense of Christian and Salesian responsibility. “Continue to support the missionary activities in Cambodia so that young people will continue to become bearers of hope for a better Cambodia of today” is the prayerful sentiment of Fr. Leo Ochoa, rector of the community.
