Dominic Savio - and life!

ROME: 8th March 2007 -- Just something very brief this time.  Communities in the Region might like to recall the fact that 9th March, even though it is not the liturgical feast day anymore, is in fact the date of Dominic Savio's death.  This time, 2007, it happens to be the 150th anniversary of his death, so a special occasion.  No doubt, other than the fact that it has already received a mention on the www.sdb.org home page, we will hear a little more, perhaps from the Rector Major himself, on this occasion on Friday.
In the meantime, be aware that the Life of Dominic Savio, which has had a number of English versions (the most recent by Teresio Bosco and translated for publication in the US). The original by Don Bosco (6th or 5th edition, depending which way you look at it), once translated by Fr Wally Cornell, has now been re-translated to bring it into line with the original text which the earlier translator was not using at the time.  This text is readily available in a full and easily searchable html edition from the Bosconet home page under 'What's new'.  You will also find a doc version there if you wish.  www.sdb.org can also give you additional resources for liturgy.
There is one more offering on Bosconet in the 'what's new' section - a great little flash style presentation (in pps form in case you don't have powerpoint) on 'Life!'.  You'll enjoy it, and it will bring a smile to your day :-)
One last point - Boscowiki has been very active lately, with people popping in to add comments.  Follow it up occasionally and get behind the news...and why not try your hand at being interactive while you are at it.  From there you can go to other areas in the wiki, which is growing day by day as different people contribute different materials - a kind of encyclopedia of the EAO region, coming up from the grass roots.
