Don Bosco Communications and Information Technology Institute launched in Makati

MAKATI CITY: February 8th, 2007 -- A teacher uploading her students' grades using her PDA via the school's WiFi network; a parent receiving her son's grades on her old mobile phone; a student viewing his grades in an Internet Café; Fr. Jun Inocencio of ODEA (Office for the Development of the Educational Apostolate) sporting a smile as he gains access to consolidated scholastic data in real-time from the different Don Bosco schools. These and other forms of integrating the (Salesian) work are just samples of what Don Bosco CITI can deliver.
Launched last January 24, 2007 in Greenbelt 3, Makati City, Don Bosco Communications and Information Technology Institute (CITI) is Don Bosco Philippines North Province's new baby. It is also owned in part by Don Bosco Technical College - Mandaluyong.
More than just being a centralized ICT product and service provider for Don Bosco Philippines North Province (FIN), Don Bosco CITI aims to make FIN a fully-integrated community that moves towards a common ICT direction. It also aims to lower FIN's ICT Total Cost of Ownership in the long term by sharing the cost of services by its clients and avoiding duplication of limited resources. However, the CITI offers modular ICT products and services to allow its clients to develop at its own pace while being consistent with FIN's ICT over-all direction.
In its thrust to help bridge the gap of the digital divide, Don Bosco CITI wishes to enable smaller settings to gain access to ICT resources and services at the lowest possible cost. Other thrusts of the CITI include: Collaborate with all the forces; Focus on core competencies; and Access Don Bosco anywhere.
