Japan supports Don Bosco in education

Solomon Star report

HONIARA: 26 August 2005 -- Japan has provided more that SI $ 270,000 for a project designed to provide students of Don Bosco Technical Institute with opportunities to be involved with their educational activities.
The Technical Institute will soon have an additional new workshop building for their Rural Training Centre at Tetere on Guadalcanal Province under the Japanese Government funding.  A grant contract was signed on Thursday, 18 August, 2005, between the Japanese Charge d’Affairs, Mr. Katsuhiko Kubo and the Director of the Institute, Fr. Luciano Capelli sdb.  With the contract now signed the students will have an additional improved RTC facility within the Solomon Islands.  Construction work will start soon and the building to house the mechanical training, is expected to be completed next year.
“Students like you will share the future of this nation and will contribute towards the rebuilding and reconstruction of Solomon Islands.  We are pleased to participate in your contribution to rebuilding your nation,” said Mr. Kubo.
He said that the funding of the RTC construction was an expression of the good will of the people of Japan to the friendly people of Solomon Islands, and he hoped to strengthen the friendship between Japan and Solomon Islands.
