A touch of magic for the Feast of St John Bosco!

January 31 2005 -- (Taken from Catholic Magicians' Guild - http://www.kismetmagic.com and featured in Australia's Catholic News) - Today is the feast of Salesian founder St John Bosco, who is also patron saint of magicians.
Working with poor children of Turin, he remembered the magic he would perform for his little friends when he was a child and decided that that was the best way to bring children back to the Church. This is the site of US-based Catholic Magicians Guild chair Angelo Stagnaro, who describes the Guild's role in helping parishes by 'augmenting cathetical instructions of children and adults with stage and close-up magic'. The site is still under development, but the Guild also has a brochure, and a feature in the most
recent Online Catholics.  For website reviews archive, see http://www.cathnews.com/sites
There are any number of Salesian magicians around.  In the EAO region there is the well-known professional magician Fr Michael Court, who directs the Salesian spirituality centre at Lysterfield (Melbourne) and uses his magic in precisely the way St John Bosco did, combined with equal amounts of prayer!  Then there is Mago Sales, a Salesian from the Turin area who uses his magic to move people to support third world areas involved in conflict.  Mago Sales often tours these areas with high profile entertainment people, bringing joy to children who know little of it but who, like all children anywhere, can forget their troubles with a little magic.  Yesterday he was in St  Peter's Square performing in front of the Pope.
