ITM Vice-Provincial Chapter: Opened by a Salesian bishop and concluded by the regional superior.

DILI: 16th April '04 --25 Salesians (20 priests, 4 Brothers and 1 Deacon) from the Indonesia-Timor (ITM) vice province concluded their six days of  encounter last week in Dili, East Timor. They were fortunate to have the presence of Bishop Francesco Panfilo (bishop of Alotau, Papua New Guinea) who was in East Timor for the ordination of Fr. Avelino Gutteres, SDB on the  1stof  May.  Bishop Panfilo also attended the episcopal ordination of Bishop Ricardo, a Timorese diocesan priest, who now succeeds Bishop Belo as bishop of the Dili Diocese. Bishop Panfilo is familiar with East Timor because he was formerly the provincial when East Timor was part of Philippines-North (FIN). On May 3 he opened the provincial chapter with the Eucharist and a spiritual talk.

The six days of intensive discussions and sharings produced three documents: The proposed provincial directory, the unified evaluation of the communities in relation to the guidelines of the GC25 and some points on the Salesian Brother's vocation.

The last two days of the chapter were graced by the presence of the Regional Superior, Fr. Klement Vaclav, SDB. He is on a special visit for a consultation, since Fr. Andrew Wong, SDB is about to finish his term of service as provincial for the ITM Vice Povince. Fr. Klement also attended the sessions as observer and presided over  the concluding Mass. The last day was also characterized by gratitude for the different preparatory commissions and facilitators and the SDB community of Dili who collaborated with Fr. Wong in this provincial chapter.
