EAST ASIA-OCEANIA REGION GAINS EXPERIENCED MISSIONARY
Rome: 3rd May -- The new region of East Asia-Oceania, hived off recently from the erstwhile Asia-Australia region, has gained a 'top' missionary in the person of Fr. Luciano Odorico. Fr. Odorico left Rome thismorning, via Singapore, for Vanimo, in PNG, where he will take up his 4th major missionary experience: the first was in Venezuela for some 30 years, then 4 years in Africa-Kenya and 12 years as General Councillor for the Missions (which has to be a missionary experience in its own right!), Fr. Odorico has now been assigned by the Rector Major to Papua New Guinea. Fr. Vaclav Klement, the new East Asia-Oceania regional, offers a hearty welcome to Fr. Odorico as he takes up this latest challenge.
