THAI PROVINCE : PROVINCIAL CHAPTER

Banchung Santisukniran

HUA HIN, Jan 17 1998 : In answer to the invitation of Fr. Luc Van Looy, the Vicar General, Thai Salesian province of St. Paul gathered together with one mind and one heart for the Provincial Chapter at the Salesian Retreat House of Hua Hin. The Provincial Chapter was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil, the Provincial and regulated by Fr. Joseph Banchong Santisukniran, the Regulator. There were 31 Salesian confreres, 1 lay person and 6 sub-secretaries gathered together for this historic event.

The Chapter started on 8 January 1998 with a day of recollection and prayer. At the end of the day the Mass of the Holy Spirit was concelebrated.

The following day in the morning was the official opening ceremony of the Chapter with the reports of the Regulator and the Provincial. There were some reactions to the report of the Provincial. Then came the commissions' works.

The Chapter was done in the spirit of responsibility and fraternal unity from the first day to the last day.

Finally the document consisting of three parts (the application of the GC 24, the provincial directory and the Ratio for formation) was approved and signed by all

participants on 15 January 1998.
