Letter of the missionary from Myanmar to South Suda
Wau, South Sudan, 9 June 2017 -- Dear Friends of the EAO Region!
Greetings from our community of Wau (South Sudan) on the Independence Day (June 9) of this beloved country!
Today, we celebrate a Eucharist in the United Nations Camp of Wau, where there are thousands of IDP (Internally Discplaced Persons = domestic refugees) especially those around the town. And during this Eucharist were baptised not less than 41 children born in the IDP camp. In fact, they are born again on the day of the birthday (Independence day) of their country. I hope they will be instruments of Peace and Reconciliation in the days to come.
Please, remember this small Salesian community of Wau, our young country of South Sudan (2011) and especially the peace in South Sudan in your prayers!
Deacon Francisco is the first SDB missionary from Myanmar (2013), a student of theology in Utume, Nairobi - Kenya (AFE). During the summer vacation time is assigned to Wau community (Parish with many chapels, VTC, printing press and care about the IDP during this time).
As you know during last few years the civil war in South Sudan is causing a huge number of displaced people and many victims. Apart of the diplomatic effort of Pope Francis also our prayers are of big help to this war thorn country.
