BISHOP ALANGIMATTATHIL died 18 Nov. 9.15 pm IST

CALCUTTA, 18th November (DBIS) -- Salesian Bishop Abraham Alangimattathil of Kohima, Nagaland died of a massive heart attack at the Holy Redeemer Hospital Dimapur, 18 November, 9.15 pm said a communique from the Salesian provincial headquarters in Dimapur. He was 64 years old. 
The funeral will take place at the Catholic Cathedral, Kohima, Nagaland, 21 Nov. 11 am. 
He was the first Bishop of the newly formed Kohima-Imphal diocese carved out of Dibrugarh diocese in 1973. In about seven years time Imphal was made into another diocese. 
Rome accepted Bishop Alangimattathil's resignation in 1996 on grounds of ill health.
