Lawaan, Cebu, the Philippines, 28 May 2024 -- The Philippine South Province (FIS) of the Salesians of Don Bosco held its 11th Provincial Chapter at Don Bosco Retreat House Lawaan from May 19 to 25, 2024.
The week-long gathering, convened by Fr. Fidel Ma. D. Orendain, SDB, Provincial Superior, brought together 30 participants, including provincial council members, local house rectors, local community delegates, elected province delegates, and observers.
Following the theme “Passionate about Jesus Christ, Dedicated to Young People,” the Chapter focused on studying and reflecting on the documents from the General Chapter 28. Discussions revolved around three key areas: (a) Animation and Care of the Real Life of Every Salesian, (b) Salesians, Salesian Family, and Lay People Together With and For Young People, and (c) Governance of the Congregation.
This Provincial Chapter serves as a crucial preparation for the Congregation’s 29th General Chapter scheduled for February to April 2025 in Rome. The insights and priorities from the FIS Provincial Chapter will contribute to the broader discussions on the future direction of the Salesian community worldwide.
