Anisakan, Myanmar - 16 August 2023 -- An extraordinary visitation of the EAO Regional superior, Fr. Joseph Phuoc SDB to the vice-province of Myanmar began on 26th of July and ended on 17th of August 2023. During this period of time, Fr. Regional made a great effort to visit to all the communities, meeting, talking and listening to the confreres, the youth, the past pupils, the students, and the members of Salesian Family, in spite of critical political situations in the country. Whenever he reached at a community safely, he used to narrate in the good night talks about his risky experiences of hearing the explosions and firing of artilleries nearby, as he made his journeys to different communities throughout the country.
On 15th of August, all the perpetual confreres were gathered at the Provincial House to listen to his final recommendations and encouragements. In the evening, a short program of farewell to Fr. Regional was organized in the hall, where the young Salesians from the Post Novitiate presented a "Thank You" Song, after the thanksgiving speech of Fr. Bosco Nyi Nyi SDB (the provincial). On the following day, "the Birthday of Don Bosco", Fr. Regional surrounded by 20 SDB priests celebrated the solemn Mass at the shrine of MHC in honor of Don Bosco. The participants were young SDBs, FMAs, past pupils, youth, and students. At the end of the mass, he promised them that he would constantly pray for Myanmar people, and bring their best regards to our beloved Rector Major.
Finally, we sing praise to God for the success of Fr. Joseph Phuoc's extraordinary visitation to the vice-province of Myanmar, even in this very critical and risky moment.
