Fuiloro, Timor-Leste, 12 February 2023 - The joint Oratory activities of SDB and FMA Fuiloro officially commenced for the year 2023. The opening ceremony was held in the gymnasium of Fuiloro SDB Community. There were hundreds of young people and children attended the opening ceremony. Older and young youth came from different branches of the Oratory under the tutelage of the Fuiloro SDB and FMA Community.
During the opening ceremony, the person in charge of pastoral affairs at Dom Bosco Fuiloro presented a talk on the topic “Don Bosco Leads to Mary and Mary consequently leads us to Jesus.” He said that Don Bosco, during his childhood, introduced a strong devotion to Our Lady. This devotional experience hasled Don Bosco to a tremendous experience and love for Our Lady, the Virgin Mary. Afterwards, Don Bosco also introduced Our Lady Help of Christians to his sons and daughters. This is Don Bosco’s legacy to his children and the whole Salesian family. He asks all the Salesian family to cultivate this beautiful devotion to Our Lady Help of Christians.
He concluded his remarks by inviting all the oratorians and animators to cultivate their devotion following the legacy Don Bosco left us as a strong tradition. One simple way is to pray the rosary together as family at home. St. Teresa of Calcuta would say “a family that prays together, stays together, he added.
After the talk, all there were animated games organized by the FMA sisters, singing and dance presentations from different settings of the Oratory. The opening ceremony has been very much alive and invited many more young people for this year’s activities.
The ceremony concluded with snacks served at the gymnasium at Don Bosco Fuiloro.
