The first canonical visitation of new Pacific Delegate

Suva, Fiji, 13 July 2017 -- We concludes the first visitation from the Pacific Delegate Fr Petelo Vito here in our community in Fiji. The main aim for the visitation is to ‘encourage our formation to live with hope and look forward for the development of the Salesian mission here in the Pacific’. Fr Petelo encouraged all those who are in initial formation to “seek for companionship because only a fool says that he dose not require any companionship".

During his first canonical visitation our Pacific Delegate also share our Delegation priorities for the period 2017- 2019:

1. Strengthen the senses of belonging to the Delegation with common vision, shared responsibility and communication between all Confrere and communities
2. Establishment of the new Parish and Youth Center in Suva, Fiji
3. Vocation Promotion in all 3 countries (Fiji, New Zealand and Samoa)
4. Quality formation of the Salesians, both initial and ongoing
5. Provide more personnel for the community life and mission in the Pacific
6. Development of Lay Leadership and Participation

The visitation close with a prayer and words of thanks from Fr Petelo Vito to the rector of our community, Fr Paselio Tevaga and the formators, Deacon Tuia Afoa, other confreres in the postnovitiate and the holy novices.

Cl. Lui gave to the Delegate a free hair cut in the morning before his flight to Samoa. The whole community of Suva is happy and grateful for this short but intense fraternal visitation of our Pacific Delegate - Superior!
