austraLasia #2022

Dipping into the treasures - have you tried, recently?

ROME: 7 January 2008 --  A seminar for Rectors of Formation Houses has just concluded in Bangkok.  An earlier austraLasia (#2020) made reference to the first day of proceedings.  In fact all materials from these days are now available on the link included here: Bosconet, and would be well worth a glance.  You will see that this page could also lead you to other region-wide seminars over the past several years, thus putting a mine of useful material in your hands for very little effort.
Bosconet has begun to introduce 'trails' - a helpful navigation process (visible at the top of the relevant pages).  It is now easier than ever to move quickly through pages which are closely connected: two 'trails' have so far been introduced - one for austraLasia and one for the EAO group. Gradually a 'trail' will be added for each of the groups.
RSS has become easier than ever also. A 'trail' automatically sets up the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) system. Hence if you click on the orange RSS symbol wherever you see it, your browser asks you if you want to add this link to your tool bar or wherever, then if those pages - for the moment either the EAO Group pages, or the austraLasia pages - are updated, you automatically receive notification, though it is up to you to click on the saved link in your tool bar to see the updates.  This hands responsibility across to you, the reader, and does not clutter up your email. It is a simple way of accessing useful Salesian information and resources.
A further addition to Bosconet is a Forum - you can see the link on the home page lefthand sidebar. You need the same password (20eao02) for this as for the austraLasia comment page.  The Forum adds an entirely new possibility for the EAO region.  Anyone receiving austraLasia by email (and therefore the entry password) can respond to an existing topic or create a new one.
The possibility of a discussion across the region is a real one with this tool. It is NOT intended as a centralised process - you writing to the moderator of the Forum - but as a multi-directional process - you writing to the Salesian Family in the region and any one of them responding. There will be moderation of the Forum to avoid any problems, but its pages are protected from entry by anyone who does not possess the password.
As indicated earlier, this 'shared password' via austraLasia is a workable system. If it fails for any reason, we will introduce a login system with personal username and password. Let's try to avoid that for now.
