Lost and found - further notes on spirituality
(as presented by Fr Pat Sherlock sdb)

BOLTON UK: 17th May 2007 -- The latest book by Michael Cunningham SDB has arrived at Don Bosco Publications, hot off the press.  In 'Lost and Found'  Michael argues that religion needs to recognise that spirit can never be contained and restricted. At the heart of the disillusionment with so much contemporary religion is the sense that it seeks to control and restrict God. Our God has become too small. At this stage in history, we are no longer spiritual children whose every thought and experience has to be ratified by higher authority. On Mount Tabor the clothes of Jesus are described as dazzlingly white; the apostles are lost for words. No human words can ever describe the mystery of God. The spirit is wild, portrayed in wind and fire at Pentecost, and it is to that wider sense of mystery and search that many are attracted today. We are rediscovering that religion is not primarily a doctrinal matter or moral matter - important though these are - but a mystical one. Today the mystical and the prophetic have to become one. Far from losing religion, this development will help us find its soul.
Those familiar with Michael's previous books 'Within and Without' and 'A Time for Compassion', will recognise a continuing exploration of spirituality in his trademark practical yet mystical style, although it is not necessary to have read these books to find great depth, insight and encouragement in 'Lost and Found'.
The book is available at a special price to the Salesian family (including readers of austraLasia) of £6. Postage and packaging may just add something to that. Michale is actually launching the book on 21st May. To buy a copy of 'Lost and Found', please contact Michael Kilcoyne at Don Bosco Publications ( michael@salesians.org.uk telephone 01204 308811) and mention Rualink to obtain the Salesian family discount.
