YO Challenge at DBTI- Boroko: less for self, more for others, enough for all

PORT MORESBY: 8th April 2006 -- YO stands for Youth Circle, and it is a long-standing inspiration of Don Bosco Technical Institute at East Boroko, PM, PNG.  YO7, the 7th camp of its kind, took place last weekend 31st March-2nd April.  The Service Team was 'on fire' as they set about serving 104 participants, 89 of whom were candidates and graduates of the YO7 batch.
YO camps, a tradition at DBTI, started in 2001 to address the need to empower Bosconians to make an impact on ordinary life in the school campus.  It aims to build friendship and teamwork amongst them.  A YO camp is different to other camps.  Servant Leadership is a main focus. Imagine putting 'Amazing Race', 'X Factor' and 'Survivor' in one package - there, you've got YO camps!  Good music, fun and prayer are essential ingredients. After camp it carries on as they work together to initiate and participate in more school activities.  Since 2001 there have been 7 batches of the Youth Circle, which began with a humble 19 students to reach its present number of 89.
'Less for self, More for others, Enough for all' was the YO7 camp theme.  Following the event, participations were refreshed and invigorated - ready for more!  A call for YO8 was sounded.  That should be next semester with new members added.
