MELBOURNE: 20 February 2012 -- Dear Salesians and Members of the Salesian Family,
I wish to inform you that at 12.00 noon today (20 Feb., 2012) in Rome, Pope Benedict XVI officially appointed our Salesian confrere, Bishop Tim Costelloe SDB DD, currently Auxiliary Bishop of Melbourne, as the new Archbishop of Perth, Western Australia. Tim will be formally installed as Archbishop on Wednesday 21 March in St Mary’s Cathedral, Perth.
We warmly congratulate Tim on his appointment and offer him our sincere prayers and support as he takes on this key leadership and pastoral role within the Catholic Church Community in Western Australia. At the same time, we assure him of our ongoing Salesian friendship and solidarity in the years ahead, and reaffirm the fact that he will always be a most valued member of the Family of Don Bosco in the Province of Australia-Pacific and throughout the world.
Finally, we will be having a ‘Farewell’ Celebration for Archbishop-Elect Tim at our Province Centre in Ascot Vale sometime in March. We will let you know the precise details when they come to hand.
