Two Vietnamese missionary deacons ordained in Colombia, Bogota
Bogotá, Colombia, 2 December 2017 -- At the sanctuary of the Salesian "Niño Jesús" center in Bogotá, on Saturday 2 December, Msgr. Hector Julio López, bishop of Girardot, ordained 11 Salesians from different Provinces as deacons: Colombia-Bogotá (3), Colombia-Medellin (2), Bolivia (3), Peru (2) and Ecuador (1).
Among the newly ordained deacons are also two Vietnamese missionaries in Peru. Deacon Pedro Tien Nguyen Huu and Deacon Giuse Bao Thang Tran (PER - Province of St. Rose of Lima)
In his homily Bishop Lopez reminded them about the ministry of the deacon and invited them to live a life focused on service, to be always available to serve, especially the poor young people. In the ordination Eucharist were present many parents, Salesians and Salesian Family groups.
After the Eucharist followed a family lunch in the Restaurant of Mamma Margaret.
As a great blessing for the Catholic community and the whole Salesian Congregation, we ask the Lord necessary graces for the new deacons and for new religious vocations.
